The Sacrament of Confirmation
The children begin preparation for Confirmation in the fifth grade and are generally confirmed in sixth grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation is normally administered in the Fall by one of the bishops of the archdiocese. Please refer to the list of requirements for Baptismal Godparents/Sponsors (Sacrament of Baptism) as these are the same requirements which must be met by sponsors for Confirmation. Catholics over the age of 16 who need to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation are confirmed during the Easter Season by the parish priest by virtue of a special faculty granted by the Archbishop. They may also be confirmed at the Cathedral-Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Pentecost Sunday.
