A seven-week experience that invites guests to hear the Good News and personally encounter Jesus Christ.
Discovering Christ is for anyone and everyone, from the baptized in the pews to the unbaptized person who has never entered a church. Discovering Christ helps participants enter into or renew a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, experience the love of God the Father, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to live as God’s children. It also gives participants the relational support necessary to begin living for Christ within the parish or group that offers the course.
Discovering Christ consists of seven sessions and a retreat day. The weekly sessions include four components: a meal, prayer time, a video presentation, and small group discussion. Also included in the experience is a 1-day retreat. Each component is vital to the evangelizing process of Discovering Christ.
The meal is a time to grow together socially. It is not intended as time to discuss the course topics, instead it is time to foster relationships and grow in friendship.
The prayer time consists of singing together a couple of songs that help the group become comfortable praying together.
The video sessions proclaim, with beauty and simplicity, the core Gospel message, and invite participants to make a personal response to Jesus Christ. Each teaching builds upon the one before it.
Small groups are safe places to freely discuss what was heard in the presentation. This is a time to facilitate communication and encourage people to share their thoughts and feelings.
